Month of Dark Moons

Time stood still for the tinker, given the opportunist to thrive in his environment. Research was paramount on his current endeavors, heading to the Highwall shop for some answers. Kirth lead him to a business aligned to his own, directing the young wright to the Braunbolts. Entering the shop enthusiastic, maybe too hyperactive in trying to persuade Bicks Braunbolt in learning his techniques behind his specialize line bolts. Clarifying to the eager tinker that his need of an apprentice was not necessarily with his own son, granted at the very least convinced him this would be for the sake of Grayson’s gray rangers.

Going through a rigorous crash course, Bicks overwhelmed him with the workload or as he phrased it, a crash course. After everything he at least acquired the basics behind them, and forged some relations with Bicks[contact], not to mention someone he swore to give future designs towards.[minor obligation]

Although the rigorous research drained the young dwarf, the information pummeled through his brain led to success in crafting a proper line bolt with minimum study; definitely an incredible feat for such little experience. Showing his proof to his new teacher, he acknowledged his good work especially in his weathered state [Fatigue 1]

For the rangers in Stahlheim, time was spent doing various activities each found important to themselves. Grimjack decided it favorable to learn the Dwarvish language. The behemoth of an Ogre diligently searched for a teacher to learn Dwarvish, Brogan pointing to a library where plenty of Lore Wardens were located. Time passed as he worked hard to get the rudimentary understandings of the language, possessing basic vocabulary to at least get around Stahlheim without looking too confused. Such confusions still lurked in the horizon, spotting two builders who he only interpreted as the ones responsible for the attack on the temple. Chaos ensued with his attempted assault, bringing guards to the scene and in turn his arrest in crimes from assault of a guard to public indecently. Granyt was summoned since Grimjack was wearing his Greyson’s Grey Rangers cloak who in turn summoned Shayline and Rorauk regarding their subordinate. With Shayline not be found, Granyt gave a stern talking to Rorauk on better training of his team, putting the Goblinesh in his custody.

Jav-rasn embarked on some exploring in the area. The Aevakar’s adventure in the area led him to two mischievous dwarven kids, palming something in their pockets near a Candy shop. Confronting the children and scolding them on their actions, they dismiss his attempt to scare them and in reply tossed the candy feeling it was not worth the headache. Displaying the stolen candy to the Shopkeep, he was infuriated claiming them dirty and demand reimbursement. Frustrated by his ignorance Jav-rasn left him hanging, refusing to deal with this endeavor of justice any further.

Meanwhile Rorauk and Brogan both compete for the hand of Gritta Highwall. Rorauk begins a period of getting better acquainted with his betrothed, one of those significant times involving going to a high class restaurant to wine and dine his beloved. Midway through the lovely evening someone moved the young Fyrforg aside to address problems of kidnappings in Stone, perceiving the threat as something one of his family’s renown could help in dealing with. Slightly dismissing him and coincidental running into the General he asked about this, and was told Greyson’s Grey rangers deal with kidnappers, not the army. Their dinner concluded Rorauk and Gritta left in good spirits their wedding looming in the near future.

Brogan had similar goals, except with the formidable challenge of swaying her feelings from Rorauk to himself. Renting out two riding cave lizards and riding them along to a natural open area like park set the tone for the romantic date. Handcrafting the Ironreich Ale and providing the young maiden with an ample amount of food for a picnic got her slightly drunk and in good spirits.

Proceeding with a heartfelt, yet personal poem had her very impressed.

 photo BROGANPOEM_zps64e00d5f.png

After which they headed to some show in the vicinity to end the date off. Returning the riding lizards was a peculiar event for Brogan discovering some stranger generously donated one to him. Brogan tried to find the charitable individual to no avail.

This squad rivalry for Gritta escalated beyond some mere competition. Feeling obliged to defend her family’s honor, Brogan requested a dual with their fists to settle everything pertaining for the Lady Highwall. Both dwarves fueled by their ambitions started a spectacle which spread throughout the area. Rorauk exhibiting a more conservative style, validating it through his arduous experiences in battle with a swift one-two combination start

of a jab and straight that does not warrant even a reaction. The game plan for Rorauk consisted of laying crisp straights and jabs from a slight distance to get the advantage. Brogan’s striking was crude in form comparable to a drunken brawler, throwing wide, yet wild haymakers to drop the noble to his knees. A few did some partial damage, including him tackling him to the ground temporarily and capitalizing on that. Another throw was so wild Brogan almost threw his shoulder out, but managed to keep his shoulder but temporarily lost his balance. Mostly a case of durability keeping both combatants up. Rorauk stooping to wild punches at times to sever a predictable offense. A thunderous uppercut slowed the big dwarf for just a second, just before miraculously channeling his determination

to elbow the Corporal in the face. Entering a collision, Rorauk timed it perfectly to unleash a cross counter punch the moment the brawny Ironreich went for another reckless haymarker. Harming the sturdy warrior with a precision counterattack, Rorauk helped up his comrade and with that cemented his claim to Lady Highwall.
With the fickle Rorauk turning his back on her Arianna requests that she be transfered to another squad and her two former soldiers request transfer with her.

Dawn of 3rd White River

Defeated and demoralize from the traumatic ambush, the loss of one of their own consumed the group with paranoia which had them act swiftly by relinquishing their hold of the temple and have them all head to Crag taking everything they could fit in the sledge and wagon. Shayline returned to ranger headquarters immediately to report the onslaught and make a plead for troops. For the number of troops she was requesting it was suggested that theGeneral of Stahlheim was the person to ask. A lengthy travel would be initiated once they awoken.

Evening of 11th White River

Shayline felt it appropriate to first have a meeting with Granyt, explaining the grim circumstances that has recently befell them. It dawned upon them that it would take some time to get an audience, heading back to the inn for the day

12th of White River

Engrossed with other significant duties, the group knew some time would be passed until they could successful converse with the General. Shayline went to the library to find builders less inclined towards violence, miraculously finding some in the premise. These scholarly Builder suspected their return was for the Crysarium in the region itself, mining it to fuel their equipment. They seem reluctant to teach Arc fire training based on the destructive nature it possessed, yet some good news manifested in an old friend, Jav-rasn, in the area. Rorauk went to the Highwall shop to get his Dwarven Crossbow modification, encountering Kirth Highwall praised for his work in Dwarven Crossbow and other customizable add ons. Startling was how he reacted harshly to his appearance. Seeing the young Fyrforg with an Eldakar mistress instead of Gritta his daughter and to everyone in attendance surprise his betrothed . Chaos reigned when Gritta made a coincidental entrance, frozen in place for seeing him. Profanity was thrown at Arianna who composed herself while Rorauk ignorantly claimed to forget about her and his promise. Enveloped in sorrow she fled away in tears, Kirth ready to take his head for this slander. Rorauk was faced with a choice. Leaving Arianna behind dumbfounded and dishearten from how easy it was to abandon her. He went after his Gritta. Brogan demonstrated his valor, endorsing himself as a famed Ironreich warrior to only be so lucky to have her hand in marriage, showcasing an agenda of his own discord. Arianna and Brogan both followed Rorauk to the park, witnessing him wooing Grietta in a matter that bewildered them simultaneously.
Rorauk made an exceptional declaration of love to her, displaying his affections publicly with Gritta suggesting a wedding in the spring. Brogan counseled the Eldakar with alcohol, making both head straight to a nearby tavern with the enormous Ogre parked outside unconscious with half a barrel of Dwarven spirits. The night ended with the majority minus the Aevakar and Brogan drunk with even the composed Arianna breaking down and sobbing to the druid who seemed a little too enthusiastic over the outcome.

13th of White River

After copious amount of alcohol, romance, and disappointments, everyone headed out in the morning to meet the General. Generously offering a Company of well equipped Dwarves to the group, they went back to the Builder Scholars to figure out the best course of action to reclaim their compatriot since all tactics lead the possibility of getting demolished. Amongst all else it was decided to split the group off, Shayline and Geppert to talk to these Builders and the others awaiting the company.

20th of White River

Arriving back in Crag to instantly get the horses and because of it reach the temple midday instead. They found a barely alive Murvoth after examining the totaled temple, shapechanging into a mighty bear to carry him. The orc was very malnourished, covered in excess bruises, and unconscous which required carrying him. Geppert built a sturdy drag to help carry him, advancing to the Slatespirit Inn to keep him warm for the night. Shayline beseeched for the power to give him a greater healing and was rewarded for her efforts healing his battered and abused body.

21st of White River
In the morning the trek was begun back down to Stahlheim to let the others know Murvoth has been found.

28th of White River

The squad reunited gathered the new company of dwarves assigned them and started strategizing and training, trying to determine how they would take back their temple. Brogan striven to test the mettle of this union asked Kirth Highwall about his daughter and for his blessing, feeling obligated to get her a better suitor amongst all else. It was a win-win situation for her, gaining a dwarf of proper status.

Chronicle of Korog the Redeemer #6
I returned to Crag and took delivery of the armor Rorauk ordered for me. It must commend those dwarves, they make good armor! It is very comfortable and I like it very much. The others are at the main temple of the Unicorn and I am anxious to return and show them. I received a message from the Ranger garrison to check in so I reported as ordered. There was a huge giant waiting there but it turned out he was an abnormally large Ogre named Grimjack. Even I was amazed that ogres could become that large, he was almost twice my height. Grimjack was assigned to our group and was fresh from Ranger training. He had been a slave in the Kal-A-Nar Empire who was freed from the pits. I was thrilled to tell him more about his ogrish heritage. Our trip to the temple was uneventful and I found him to be a pleasant travelling comrade. When we arrived at the temple, although I had not thought about it before, I released that 10 feet high ceilings do not cope well with a 16 foot tall Grimjack. Poor chap had to practically crawl through the entrance to get to the main temple where he was finally able to stand upright. The rest of the team welcomed him and we had a nice feast.

That night, I was on third watch. I saw movement in the shadows and realized that it was several dwarf-like beings coming out of a tunnel. They looked like dwarfs, but slightly different and were holding glowing weapons. I later learned that they are called “Builders”. They immediately shot at me so I knew they were not friendly. I sounded the alarm and ducked around a corner for cover. As my comrades starting waking up, one of our newer rangers, Geppert Bronzeheart, fired a crossbow bolt at a mechanical golem. Thought it appeared to do no damage at first, he later told me that he had figured out where how to make it unable to distinguish friend from foe. Sadly he was wounded in the process and so slid back around the corner to summon the others.

After thinking about all of the shots directed at me, I recalled a demonstration by a Kor-In master. I felt I could imitate it and was amazed that I was able to “Deny the Arrow” for the confrontation (placed Get Savaged adventure card). I rushed back out into the room and show that Grimjack had just thrown one of the huge stone tables at the enemy. Sadly, with his eyesight he missed but it did get their attention. I moved adjacent to 3 and tried a sweep maneuver that was unsuccessful. I also saw how many more enemies there were and there were a lot! Murvoth then come running out of the sleeping area, naked as a jaybird and howling like a madman. He killed one then with an adrenaline surge went further and tried to attack two others. He killed another. Grimjack threw another table. Rorauk and our previous sleeping dwarf hirelings were coming out as well. Then a Builder cast a spell that unleashed a blast which incapacitated the dwarves hirelings although I was able to get clear. I watched in horror as Murvoth was entangled in a spell by one of the Builders. Enemy troops swarmed over him and pummeled him but they were not using their blade edges. He was quickly rendered unconscious. We were all inspired and tried to rush to his aid. Rorauk was taken down by a blast from one of the glowing crossbows. Grimjack was crawling forward to help when I was struck by several blasts from very large glowing rods from troops in the back. One of the people from the back wearing robes teleported forward, grabbed Murvoth and then teleported away and out of our sight. I stayed on my feet but another blast from one of the rods rendered me unconscious. I learned that Grimjack tried to pull Rorauk and me and was peppered with shots but still kept trying. One of the leaders shouted a word and the troops began to retreat. Shayline caused an earthquake that killed a few troops but they kept retreating.

Now, I awaken as Shayline casts a healing spell on me. It has only been minutes since the Builders withdrew with Murvoth. We all discuss whether to rush after them or whether to return to Crag to seek reinforcements. We finally decide that based on the number of troops and our status, the wisest course is to obtain help but we will not stop until we are able to find and free Murvoth. Obviously the Builders wanted him for something since if their purpose was to kill him, they could have done so easily. He is a tough Orc so we are confident that he can hold on until we rescue him.

There was something else odd. While I was incapacitated, I had a vision. Before me was a glowing light, a figure I could not make out as it kept shifting in and out. I could not be sure of the race or size even. Between me and the figure was the Kayakor. The figure spoke, in mighty but musical tones, and said that I had wielded the Kayakor honorably and brought glory to it. It asked me if I would protect it and see that it was always used with honor. I felt a sense of peace and happiness. When I awoke, as I lifted the Kayakor, it felt different somehow, as if it were a part of me now. I notice that I am able to wield it in my practice maneuvers smoother than ever before. What is more, the blades now appear to be composed of white silver and looking very closely, I can sometimes make an image of the Silver Unicorn. Maybe being a Chosen of the Horn influenced it or perhaps it was because I was defending a temple to the Silver Unicorn. I do not think I have ever felt better or more honored to be wielding my Kayakor. And it truly is MY Kayakor now. I just know it. I am so excited and pumped up now, we WILL rescue Murvoth!

Brogan Ironreich

Brogan decided he needed a few things to supplement his brew stock. He went through looking for brewing equipment in the area. He obtained enough to set up a still for making Stonesweat, and another to brew his Ironreich ale. Looking for ingredients and whatnot he got a specialist kit. He tested out some new recipes and made a powerful batch of Stonesweat. The Ironreich ale recipe was nothing special, but the brewing went well. He easily got three kegs and afterwards got a draft horse just for carrying the booze and a riding horse for himself.

Game 29 Where am I?

Murvoth

After he was captured Murvoth awoke bound to a chair with his arms behind him. He was kept at the brink of consciousness, he had no idea for how long, repeatedly questioned, at first in languages he couldn’t understand, and then in goblinesh. Questioned and tortured for so long, in and out of consciousness, with little food or water. He had no idea how long this went on for. What all did he say? What do they want? He might remember or he might not. You will have to ask him.

Korog preoccupied by his custom order of Dwarven Armor, was ordered back to Ranger headquarters where he was introduced to a new recruit in the form of the gigantic ogre named Grimjack. Returning in the evening to the Slatespirit temple, everyone was startled to see Korog back with a titan of an Ogre crawling. The Ogre got acquainted with this base of theirs, mesmerize by the builders. Murvoth chatted with the newcomer, slowly realizing they were kin in the sense for the blood they spilled in the pits. Builder activity made them cautious enough to have watches, feeling obligated just in case. Just before dawn into the last shift intruders greeted them with a horde of attackers, reinforcements from the two who escaped, an ironic memory of what happened in the past. Assaulting Korog with a barrage that almost dropped him with half of them sleeping through the thunderous roar of their foreign weapons.

Geppert entered the fray, shooting at the metallic golem. Before the inanimate warrior attacked it suddenly froze in place. The tinker got rained by the ranged barrage, managing to stay conscious through the heat of it. Grimjack furious from being awoken began to move forward while the other builders advanced forward, causing havoc with their equipment. Relying on overwhelming ranged force, Grimjack got struck looking even more agitated as he threw a stone table at them. Murvoth frustrated from all the misfortune dashed into combat without his gear, obliterating the one adjacent to his fellow goblinesh and moving ahead to haymaker one into the ground. The Dwarven guards retaliating by ganging up on a builder assault troop or at least attempted and Grimjack adamant on tossing tables to damage the builders. A fierce blast was unleashed, dropping four of the dwarven guards with Korog surprisingly well. One used a device to fully entangle the raging orc, pummeling him into unconsciousness but not before taking one with him.

Abruptly and without anyone having time to react, one builder appeared through teleportation and teleported away with Murvoth. Rorauk succumbed to his wounds from bolts. In amazement nothing was going through that sturdy hide of Grimjack, including a mighty golem. Shayline was livid with the calamity, conjuring a powerful earthquake to sink some of the builders down below and declared none shall pass as the hole was formed as an obstacle. Geppert translated that they captured one of us and to were retreating, Although they continued their barrage as they backed out dropping most of the rest of the group. Decimated from their forces, the rangers counted their blessings and healed. Shayline coming to the realization that Murvoth was gone, she summoned a spirit to try to locate him and determined they had taken him deeper in and down.

32nd of Gray Winds

Split apart temporarily a newly reinvigorate, yet agitated Murvoth with Shayline headed straight south back to the head temple. They stopped, created a camp with thoughts of this area they would eventually make into Rockridge.

Evening of 33rd of Gray Wind

Making it back to the Slatespirit Temple area, they slept for the night. Rorauk asked Shayline for more information.

1st – 2nd of White River

Everyone prepared to explore deeper into the area, fixated on the idea of clearing out the area. Along the way Rorauk thought it was befitting to light up other areas, probably seeing its significance in the near future. Regrettably a few of the torch were out, a constant reminder that their light source was not infinite. Inspecting the place downward lead to an unexpected encounter with dwarf like people, perceiving them as Builders based on the crysalites attached to their equipment. Ekril and Murvoth went to the front line to blockade the forces. The Builders began an assault of shots onto them and Ekril got gored through with a magical bolt and pushed back. Furious from watching a comrade on death door, while the rest barring Shayline and Pitch taking some punishment. More explosive force startles Arianna, Rorauk, and Claus. Fortune shined upon the rangers as Shayline sent a tremendous blast, clearing out the majority of the enemies. Both sensing defeat used some weird smoke to escape. Refusing to allow them to escape, the others began to chase them while Geppert appeared, yet it was to no prevail. During this time everyone assisted with each others wounds. Geppert looted the corpses with glee in his eye, enthusiastic towards the prospect of studying the weapons and armor.

Once back to their temple Geppert started to disassemble and reassemble one of the small handcrossbow looking weapons while Shayline quietly egged him on to try to take the larger one apart as well from afar, coming up with a new “Disembodied Voice” spell to cast her voice whispering in his ear.

Time was spent buying equipment while Geppert went straight to manufacturing a line bolt that Rorauk bought in the shops. Murvoth cruised in the bar, hearing mention of someone badmouthing him, yet with no prevail in finding the source. Shayline returned who surprisingly now was promoted to Sergeant bythe Captain for attending the meeting with the Clan Chief while the rest left ahead. Holding the deeds and with a direction planned they headed back to the settlement.

18th of Gray Winds

Filled with copious amount of gear and new guards they head straight for the home temple.

19th of Gray Winds

Rising in the morning decided to gather material while Geppert makes snowshoes for the dwarves. Shayline shapechanges into a bird to scout ahead to the upper temple, preferring to know how the residents were doing. Things were mostly quiet, yet her concern was on the enemy returning full force. Keeping that horrific thought in mind fortifying the perimeter outside with sanctification seemed the wise thing to do, especially with enough dwarves to protect her.

20th of Gray Winds

Shayline ended her sanctify on that day and Geppert continued to make more shoes.

21th of Gray Winds

Shayline shapechanged into a bird to fly south, Geppert finished making shoes.

22th to 25th Gray Winds

The group reunited and began their trek north, camping in between the time thanks to the sledges and the dwarves with them.

26th of Gray Winds

Shayline wished to check on the mercenary camp that Jav-rasn originally surveyed and was chased by Gargoyles after firebombing the area. A startling discovery was a building of a wall and more tents in the encampment. Three gargoyles detected the hawk changed Shayline, probably attributed to the mark of Ceynara. Outmaneuvering them barely, she looked exhausted from the chase.

27th of Gray Winds

Shayline flew back to Crag to ranger headquarters to inform them of the impending threat in the form of the Kalinesh. Murvoth was still adamant on the subject of destroying the Ceynara statue that lingered in the area. His reckless attempts got marked and cursed even in his success of demolish of the unholy statue. Unsuccessful on ascending up the mountain and wounded from the fall. He eventually returns back very late, yet it was apparent he was damaged.

28th – 29th of Gray Winds

The group begins to their way to the home temple with the orc too damaged to move forward. He is left behind to heal while the others blaze a good trail.

30th of Gray Winds

Shayline arrives at the upper temple to examine Murvoth. Geppert enthusiastically made more Snowshoes.

31st of Gray Winds

Murvoth gets healed, yet the lost of his manhood was unsettling.

Shayline Eridor

1 Grey Winds
After the brief meeting with Granyt, Shayline goes to try and improve her dwarven so that she will be able to understand what is said when they go to the audience with Oracyon. She finds a kindly Lore Warden who is willing to teach her.
4 Grey Winds
While at a library studying with the Lore Warden Shayline sees 2 Builders studying an old text. She gets an introduction with them. She does not give them any details thinking Oracyon should be informed first, but she invites them to the Public Audience with Oracyon tomorrow.
5 Grey Winds
Shayline goes to Granyt’s home thinking that was where they were all going to meet before the audience only to find out that Oracyon had never mentioned the audience just the information they planned to discuss with Oracyon to Granyt, and he had told them they should go gather better information. She also gave him a fuller report including what had happened up at the northern temple. Granyt promotes Shayline to Sergeant and sends her on her way to the audience.
At the audience Shayline does not notice the builders but goes up as “Rorauk’s representative” since he was the one to request the audience and gives her report of what they had found so far under the Slatespirit Inn, and the events at the temple further north. Oracyon is impressed by their initiative and he has parchments made up giving Shayline clear title to the two temples with rights and responsibilities to maintain, guard, and support them, including paying the taxes to Stahlheim for them. She says she wishes no claim to the other caverns found under the Slatespirit Inn, and he charges her with further exploration of it to include mapping it out for Stahlheim.
6-7 Grey Winds
Shayline spends the next two days seeing if she can find anyone to travel north with her as new guards for the temples. She is able to find 11, she also sees the builders again and sees if they would help explore the area they believe used to be a builder’s area. They tell her they are busy here studying the things that have already been brought back, and that they are not warriors she should be careful as she continues her explorations for it is likely to not be safe.
8 Grey Winds
Shayline begins her travels back up to Crag with her 11 dwarven guards.
